There is a Technical Advisory Board composed of CWRU, TFS and representatives from each of the Tier 1 companies.
CAPP has two core members, CWRU and TFS, as well as industrial partners, split into a two-tier membership system.
TIER 1 – Tier 1 members have the following benefits/rights:
- They have a representative on the Advisory Board and thus can influence the strategic decisions of the center.
- They have non-exclusive royalty free rights to use of created IP, e.g., sensors, software.
- They have the possibility to have exclusive rights to specific applications and/or materials upon further negotiation.
- Direct sponsored projects at 25% preferred rates over base rate.
- Services provided at 40% preferred rates over base daily rate.
- Exemption of payment for services up to the amount of the annual fee at Tier 1 rates.
TIER 2 – Tier 2 members have the following benefits/rights:
- Access to consortium level research results, but not to its use.
- Direct sponsored projects at 15% preferred rates over base rate.
- Services provided at 20% preferred rates over base daily rate.
- Exemption of payment for services up to the amount of the annual fee at Tier 2 rates.
Membership Fees
2012 fees for Tier 1 members include a $50,000 initiation fee and $10,000 annual fee from year 2 onwards. Fees for Tier 2 companies include a $30,000 initiation fee and $6,000 annual fee from year 2 onwards.
