Looking back, 2016 has been a successful year for our Electrochemical Materials Fabrication lab. Students published papers in well-known journals, presented at international conferences, and engaged in impactful scientific research. To round the year off, our own Lu (Jack) Yu has recently defended his Ph.D. thesis on "Application of Lead Underpotential Deposition for the Characterization of Heterogeneous Surfaces in Electrochemical Systems." He is taking up a position at Pacific Northwest National Lab in Washington state in January. To send him off and to celebrate the fruitful year, Dr. Akolkar took the entire group out to Hunan by the Falls. In the company of good friends, sharing cheerful conversations over delicious foods, it was a memorable conclusion to a great year.
