Energy Systems and Grid Modernization
Our projects focus on multi-motor systems, quantitative robust control methodologies, high precision tracking and more. For example, we’re working to advance and improve the efficiency and reliability of wind turbines under any environmental condition.
Our researchers have developed advanced nonlinear robust control solutions for wind turbines and wind farms. The mechanical and electrical subsystems require new control strategies to improve the availability of the machines, with the goal of regulating the electrical variables and optimizing the power quality at the grid connection.
We’re also achieving out of this world results in research by improving the control of telescopes. Our researchers have designed a new nonlinear and robust multi-input multi-output control methodology to design high-performance servo systems for extremely large telescopes and antennas.
The methodology for the project was validated experimentally through the Giant Meterwave Radio Telescope, National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, India.
